Highway Bodies | Alison Evans

This Friday, we’re lucky enough to be revealing the cover for Alison Evans’ Highway Bodies! We’ve been dying to read it ever since it was announced – not only because Ida was our first ever Book of the Month, but because it’s a book we’ll never stop recommending it!

We’re thrilled to be a part of this cover reveal and get y’all excited about this awesome 2019 release. Can Highway Bodies just be out already?! But in the meantime, we have a Pinterest and a playlist to share with you that encapsulates all the atmosphere and vibes of this novel. And who doesn’t want a queer Aussie zombie book on their TBR?!

Have you read Ida yet?

30720860How do people decide on a path, and find the drive to pursue what they want?

Ida struggles more than other young people to work this out. She can shift between parallel universes, allowing her to follow alternative paths.

One day Ida sees a shadowy, see-through doppelganger of herself on the train. She starts to wonder if she’s actually in control of her ability, and whether there are effects far beyond what she’s considered.

How can she know, anyway, whether one universe is ultimately better than another? And what if the continual shifting causes her to lose what is most important to her, just as she’s discovering what that is, and she can never find her way back?

Ida is honestly one of my favourite #LoveOzYA books of all time – and possibly my favourite speculative fiction novel ever! It was just so creepy and so phenomenal, and it was a book that I didn’t want to put down until the very last page. I loved all the Doctor Who vibes with the doppelgängers and parallel universes, and it was just so cool!

Ida is also set in Melbourne, and it was amazing to read about all the places we know and love, including the NGV and the city. There’s nothing more amazing than reading a book set in a place you know so well and feel like you’re walking alongside the characters themselves. This book was just so Australian and so queer – we need more books like this one!

Keep an eye out on our social media on Friday night for the cover reveal!
